I had a good feeling about Gear Box working on Aliens: Colonial Marines. I’m very excited to play this and kick some xeno ass.

Purchases For Tuesday, September 27, 2011: Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection, Child of Eden (PS3) and Resident Evil: Code Veronica X HD (PSN)

Posted in In The Mail/Purchased Items, Initial Impressions, New Releases on September 29, 2011 by Matt

It is currently fall, and this fall is the busiest fall I have ever seen for gaming. There is 1 more more games per week coming out from now until December that I will be buying. It’s getting a bit much, but I will manage. These are the games I got this week, and at least they were both only $39.99, and Resident Evil Code Veronica was only $10 (after PS Plus 50% discount).

I would describe what each game is like, but I haven’t had enough time this week to sit and play them. Once I do, I shall edit this posting and let everyone know my initial impressions.

The Battlefield 3 Beta is also available, so I’ll be playing that as well. I did get early access to it, and had a chance to play for a whole 10 minutes. It was a pretty fun 10 minutes.

Also, as a PSN Plus member, I was able to snag up the Rezurrection map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops for free the other day. If you’re a Playstation Plus member, go grab it if it’s still available.

After recently finishing Deus Ex: Human Revolution, I am glad to see some more cyber punk coming my way. The release of this game is early next year, and I cannot wait to see how Syndicate turns out.

Puchases Over The Past Week: Hard Reset (PC), NBA Jam (PS3), Gears of War 3 (360), Persona 2 (PSP) and more!

Posted in In The Mail/Purchased Items, New Releases on September 21, 2011 by Matt

It’s been a little while since my last post due to the amount of hours I’ve been getting at work. That and the amount of time I’ve spent playing Dead Island (which is awesome). Over this time period, I have purchased a few games.

Hard Reset came out last week as well, and it’s proven itself to be a decent game. I’ve put in around an hour, but Dead Island is dominating my PC time at the moment. More on this game when I play through it. According to some reviews, the game will only be around 4-5 hours anyway. Should be a less time consuming set of play-throughs.

NBA Jam came out a while ago, and I finally found a copy a week or so ago for cheap. It was used and only cost me around $14. It’s price recently dropped from $39.99 to $19.99 brand new, so if you see a copy, pick it up. It is a similar style to the old NBA Jam games, only with an obvious update to graphics and team rosters.

Persona 2 for the PSP came out on Tuesday, so I picked the limited edition up. I’ve never played this game before, but I do enjoy Persona 3. We’ll have to see what it’s like soon.

Gears of War 3 came out on Tuesday as well, and I was able to snag up an Epic Edition during the midnight release. I haven’t opened it or played it yet, and there will be a video posting of the unboxing soon.

Tuesday also saw the release of a few games on PSN.

Resident Evil 1-3 are currently free downloads for PSN Plus members, and Resident Evil 4 is discounted down to $10 as well. I picked up all 4 of them and had a chance to try out the new HD remake of RE4. It’s looking pretty nice and it was a great game back when I played it on GameCube, so I’ll definitely give it a couple of play-throughs to get all of the trophies.

Burnout Crash came out as well, and it’s a pretty simple, yet fun little game. Any game where the main goal is to cause chaos and destruction is bound to be good in my mind. It’s only $9.99 so it doesn’t break the bank.

Renegade Ops had decent reviews, so I tried the demo out today and it was a lot better than I expected. I made the purchase and look forward to playing it through with a friend at some point. It’s $14.99 on PSN.
