Purchases for Monday, June 20, 2011: Air Combat (PS1), Blast Chamber(PS1), Uprising X(PS1) and Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)

Yesterday, after getting home from a weekend away, I arranged to pick up some games from some Kijiji ads.

Air Combat, Blast Chamber, Uprising X
Air Combat came out near the launch of the Playstation 1, and it was a game that I played a lot. It’s the original in the Ace Combat series. It was a good game then, and still is now. For $1.50, it was a definite purchase (even though it’s a Greatest Hits copy).

Blast Chamber was another game that I had never played. It’s basically a chamber with you and 1-3 other guys trying to control a ball (or whatever it is). Each character is a different colour and you can either take the ball to your corresponding colour marker , or to another player’s colour marker. Doing so to your own marker will add time to your timer, and doing so to another person’s marker will take time away. When time reaches zero, you explode. Dying less, and scoring more will get you more points. When the primary timer reaches zero, the player with the most points wins. There are many different chambers to play in, but they are all roughly the same (just a square room that rotates). It may sounds fun, but it’s not the greatest game ever. For only $3, it’s not a big deal.

Uprising X is a game where you control a futuristic tank. The gameplay is easy to get used to, and the game is actually really fun. When you shoot infantry, they explode into bits. You can also control towers on occasion, which are very powerful. I’ve only played the tutorial, so this is all I know. It was a good purchase for only $3.50.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time releases today on the 3DS, and it’s a game I regretted getting rid of back when I was a kid. I picked up this copy for $20 (which I could have found a better copy of, but oh well). There are some minor scratches to the game’s front label, but it works and I’ll play it.
