Purchases Since My Last Post, And What I’ve Been Up To

If you read this, you likely have a computer and likely have Steam installed. Steam has had some pretty good sales on lately. I took advantage of that. The following games are what I purchased on Steam in the last 10 days: Thief: Deadly Shadows, Killing Floor, Killing Floor Mod: Defence Alliance 2, World of Goo, X-Com package (Apocalypse, Enforcer, Interceptor, Terror From The Deep, and UFO Defence).

I also purchased some games during the week on my trip back to my parents’ place while on my way through Listowel at Little Shop of Heroes: No One Can Stop Mr. Domino (PS1), Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance (PS2) and Mortal Kombat Deception (PS2).

I’ve been playing a lot more games lately, since I got everything moved into my apartment.

Portal is a game that I got close to the end of over a year ago, but then lost my save data and didn’t play again. Well, it finally came time for me to finish it the other day. I don’t know why I did not do it earlier. I was done it in 3 hours. Bah! It was great, and had some funny moments. I’m now randomly playing the challenge scenarios. If you’ve never played it, get it!

Otherwise, I’ve been playing Sins of a Solar Empire a bit, and some Metro 2033. Metro is a great game, and I am currently playing through it on hardcore difficulty. The atmosphere is great, and the world they created in the book is right here in the game. I’m currently a third the way through the game, having only invested 3 hours so far. It reminds of of oblivion a little bit, with Fallout mixed in there, with a hint of vodka.

Last night I hooked up some older consoles (Turbo Grafx-16 and Atari Jaguar) and played some games. I had been craving some Blazing Lazers for a while, so I popped that bad boy in. It was fun, but I have lost my touch. I didn’t even make it past the second stage. I felt like I had let myself down, so I switched games. Moving to the Jaguar, I stuck Cannon Fodder in and shot up some enemy soldiers, and blew up a few buildings. I got stuck on the antarctic level, and quit. Moved on to Alien vs Predator for the Jaguar and man it’s tough to play as an alien or a predator in it. You only get melee weapons to start with with the predator, and the alien is melee only. In a game this old, it’s hard to dodge enemy fire and strafe with the beast of a controller the system uses. Ah well, fun times!

After this I decided to test out Mortal Kombat Deception for the Playstation 2. It’s actually pretty good, and the fighting is very similar to Deadly Alliance. The Konquest mode is a bit different, but I have only done two missions so far. Some familiar faces are in the game, and some new ones. There’s a lot of blood and gore, and that’s just the way it should be. I’ll likely continue playing this on a regular basis, so you may hear more about it soon.

There you have it. That’s what I’ve been up to for the past few days.
