Quick News For June 23, 2009

This is actually being posted really early. It’s 1:00 a.m. right now actually. This news is really from June 22, but whatever.

Yesterday, Castle Crashers reached one million players. That is crazy, but it speaks for how awesome the game it. It’s very addicting, and I am surprised that I don’t play it more often. Maybe tomorrow night I will take it for a spin again.

EGM magazine is being resurrected by Steve Harris, the original founder. I didn’t even know they stopped making it. Hrmm. I used to read it all the time, and somehow always had a subscription to it without ever knowing how I got it or if it’d ever end. I guess it did. Well, anyway, this led me to the first link, and it’s weird how they are giving out Maxims to those with subscriptions to the old EGM until the new one is released. I haven’t received one, and I don’t really like the magazine to begin with. It does have some gaming related stuff, but meh. It’s not necessarily quality material.

Gamestop isn’t too worried about digital distribution right now. Maybe in 5 years. With my current situation, I don’t want to ever see gaming stores go away. I know it’s convenient for a lot of people to just download games and game content, but for people like me with dial-up internet connections that cannot get anything else, it sucks. I also like going and buying a game in it’s nice new case and opening it and the smell of new game. Mmm. It just won’t be the same.

On a controversial note, apparently there is a recipe for meth in Grand Theft Auto IV. That is insane. Why the hell would they put that in there? I mean, sure, it’s not like it’s hard to find a recipe for the stuff, but all that does is give anti-gaming groups stuff to work with. Jack Thompson would be jumping up and down with joy at the sight of that beautiful ammo cache. Good thing the recipe is “inaccurate”.

I’m going to keep this post short tonight. I’ll maybe make an update with more news tomorrow (today).

Also, this is post number 200! Woo! I’ll make a bigger deal of it when we hit 500 or 1000.

  1. On the meth thing, it made me think of Fight Club, and how they had to change the one conversation in the movie so that Tyler Durden wasn’t actually telling people how to make their own explosives from soap. No worse than that either, leave a few ingredients out and you just get some accurate-sounding dialogue.

  2. […] Monthly (EGM) subscription. Since EGM went under and has recently been resurrected, as noted in this post, they have been replacing former EGM subscriber’s mail boxes with Maxims to hold them over. I […]

  3. It was at that moment that he learned there are certain parts of the body that you should never Nair.
