Initial impressions, June 17, 2009: X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I downloaded the demo for X-Men Origins: Wolverine a while ago but I hadn’t tried it out. I decided to give it a try, and it’s quite a bit different than I thought. I knew it was a beat-em-up, but I didn’t actually realize that it has a mature rating. I didn’t expect it to be bloody, but the blood effect isn’t really that good. I like how you can cut limbs off of enemies, but it doesn’t really look that good either. The game play is fairly smooth, and it’s cool how Wolverine gets full of holes as he takes damage. I also didn’t expect it to be in an Uncharted-like environment.

My overall impression of the game is good though. It looks fairly nice and is fun to play. Wolverine can also level up and get new skills. I’ll likely buy this when it’s cheap.
